Volunteer Opportunities

WE NEED YOU!

One of the best ways to get to know the fantastic crew team, the parents of the rowers and learn what Crew is all about is to get involved and be an active volunteer. But even more important, this club could not exist without the ongoing effort of all the parent volunteers. Whether you serve on the Board, chair a committee or help out at the regattas, WE NEED YOU.

Everyone knows the saying many hands make a light load but it's so true.  If this is your first time volunteering, you may be worried you might "miss" your rower's race if you are on duty. Not true! Pitch in when you can, scoot out if you need to watch a race or snap some photos, then come back and work some more.  We are all parent volunteers here for the SAME purpose...to make this a great event for ALL OF US.

Review the schedule for the dates of the events.  Then, please e-mail dbradt@fhccrew.org
when and where you want to serve.  Check back to this website for updates.  We will also send out requests/notices of needs via e-mail.  Be sure to e-mail us with your comments and suggestions to admin@fhccrew.org.  We value your input!

And this is why we Volunteer!!!

BOARD OPPORTUNITIES
Are you interested in serving on the board?  Would you like to get more familiar with what goes on behind the scenes in preparing for the Crew Season?  Want to find out how you can help?  Come join us at our Board meetings which are held the 3rd Wednesday of the month in Room 302 at 7:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Central High School.

COMMITTEES TO CHAIR
Perhaps chairing a committee interests you more.  We are looking for dependable people to head up the following committees.  Remember, you don't need to have a lot of experience to do these jobs, just a willingness to jump in and get the job done.

Banquet Coordinator
Organize the end of season banquet.

Clothing Coordinator
Selecting, purchasing and distributing clothing (sweat pants, sweat shirts, hats, gym bags, t-shirts, etc.) throughout the season.

Food Tent Coordinator
Organize all activities pertaining to feeding the crew team.  Purchasing, preparation, serving, clean up.

Fundraising Coordinator
Oversee all fundraising activities and explore new fundraising opportunities.

Memory Book/Photographer
Coordinate with parent volunteer photographers to ensure each and every event is covered and update website with new photos.  Also, oversee the production of the Memory Book.

Publicity Coordinator
Distribute newsworthy information to the local media on a weekly basis during the season.

Volunteer Coordinator
Organize volunteers for all Crew Events.

VOLUNTEER DUTIES
For those of you who prefer to just "work" at the Regattas, we need lots of helping hands.  Here's a brief overview of the different jobs but remember if you see a need, pitch in and just do it.

Chaperones
Chaperones are needed at each away regatta to stay overnight in the gym or hotel and ride the bus with the team to and from the regatta.

Food Tent
Prepare and serve food then clean up on a per meal basis.

Headquarters
We host the G.R. Regatta at Riverside Park which is a one-time event each season.  In addition to all the other "jobs" listed, we need lots of hands to man the headquarters tent. Duties that day include but are not limited to: registration, t-shirt sales, reps at the information booth, timers, statistic updates, distribute schedules, parking.  We especially need outgoing, dynamic people that will get out amongst the crowds and sell those t-shirts.  It's a great fundraiser for us.

Photographers
This one is easy!!! Send us your
BEST pictures. Everyone wants to be noticed and it's important that everyone gets recognized and every event is covered.  We also need people who will work with the memory book coordinator to create a season highlights book that captures all the fun we had during crew season.

Set Up/Tear Down
Assist in set up/tear down of tents and cooking equipment.

Watchers/Timers
Assist coaches as directed.

Concession Stand - Spring Sprints erg regatta only.

Ticket takers - Spring Springs erg regatta only.
